S. P. W. Polytechnic is located in Tirupati, the Temple town of India, Chittoor District besides S. V. Dairy Farm, TTD; S. V. University area. The campus area is 8 acres with a built-up area of 6000 Sq. ft (College), 5000 Sq. ft (Hostel).

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is a conglomeration of temples. The Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act, 1966, Section 86 provided for the constitution of the Board of Trustees by the Government of AP State for the administration of TTD. Subsequently, it was brought under the First Schedule 2 of AP Act 30 of 1987. An officer of IAS cadre serves as the Member Secretary for the Board of Trustees as well as Executive Officer (EO).

There are 25 educational institutions under TTD Management. The Board of Trustees makes the policies regarding the administration of these institutions. A Joint Executive Officer (JEO) of IAS cadre is the Correspondent of all the Institutions who reports to the Executive Officer (EO). The Devasthanams Educational Officer (DEO) heads the Educational Wing of TTD and reports to JEO wherein all the Heads of the Institutions report to the DEO.

Sri Padmavathi Women (SPW) Polytechnic located at Tirupati is one of the 12 institutions under the management of TTD. It was established in 1975 (46 years back) as a Government Aided Institution under the management of TTD with the vision to attain the status of an exceptional diploma level institute for women in the field of technician education. It is annexed with hostel which provides good quality of food and living environment.

SPW Polytechnic is affiliated to State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET). The state government of AP admits students based on the state level rank obtained in Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET) conducted by it. The institution’s total enrolment is 495 in the following programmes with the approval of the regulatory bodies AICTE and / or PCI.
