The aim of this institution is to act as an instrument of social change to promote academic excellence with spiritual fervor. The college focuses on transforming the first-generation learners into good and knowledgeable citizens. The goals and objectives of the institution are clearly made known to all its constituents, through the hand book and annual calendar. The college offers four branches of subjects under technical faculty at the diploma level which includes English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computers, Hotel Management, Pharmacy offered.
The overall curriculum adopted by the college provides opportunity for qualitative higher education. Various personal, vocational, practical and creative skills are developed through curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, seminars, exhibits and group discussions. Practical training through project works, development of technical skills through field visits, and periodic tests are undertaken for the benefit of students by the faculty. Social and cultural values are inculcated and discipline is maintained by the college with the help of various committees. The proportion of knowledge and skills components varies from subject to subject.
The college has been seen by the society as an intellectual and educational center in this region for several decades. Thrust is also given to encourage additional inputs through journals, periodicals, magazines, and other reading materials. Moreover, some teachers prepare handouts based on the syllabi for the benefit of the students.
Teaching, Learning and Evaluation
Students are admitted to different courses on the basis of their academic records in the qualifying examination and also as per the reservation policy of the Government. As most of the students come from different academic, economic and social backgrounds, their knowledge and skills are assessed soon after the admission and provisions are made for offering the need-based bridge courses.
After admission, orientation classes are conducted by the faculty. Students are offered with opportunities to exhibit their skills through seminars, project work and encouraged to participate in competitive and other creative works. All lecturers prepare the annual teaching plans. Periodic monitoring of the teaching plans and review of the work diaries are done by the Head of the Department and the Principal. Appointment of faculty members is done as per the procedures laid down by the State Government and the TTDs management. Teachers submit their self-appraisal reports every year. The workload per week per lecturer is 24 periods. Students are informed about the various evaluation methods at the beginning of the academic year.
Besides the Board Examinations, students are evaluated a number of times through monthly tests and model tests. Teaching and learning are effectively monitored through a Lecturer-Student ward system. Students are informed about their performance by the respective lecturer.
