SRI PADMAVATHI WOMEN'S POLYTECHNIC- was established in the year 1975 which was the International Women's Year. The College is one of the several academic institutions maintained by the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams Trust. The college was functioning initially in the SPW Junior College Building.In 1978, the college was shifted to own building.

Within a span of 46 years it has got a distinct place among the polytechnics of this region and a unique place amongst all women's polytechnics of Andhra Pradesh. It is a Grant-in-Aid institution getting 50% grants from the Government right from the inception of the institution.
